Immigration negative ahead of Big Australia ponzi relaunch

Yesterday, the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) released Overseas Arrivals and Departures data for October 2021, which suggests net migration into Australia remained firmly negative.

There was a net 9,850 permanent & long-term departures in October, whereas over the quarter there were 20,350 net permanent & long-term departures:

Since the pandemic began in March 2020, there have been 40,750 net permanent & long-term departures, representing the first time that net arrivals have been negative since the series commenced in 1976:
