With lengthy lockdowns drawing to an end, job hiring activity is picking up.
New data from global jobs site Indeed, posted on Twitter by economist Callam Pickering, showed that Australian job postings continued to rise over the week to 1 October:

On 1 October, postings were 52.8% above their level on 1 February last year. Growth was driven primarily by a 1.8% weekly increase in NSW postings, as businesses position themselves for re-opening, with NSW postings now only slightly below their level at mid-year:
As noted by Callam Pickering:
“Elevated job vacancies or job postings is typically a good sign for future employment. A lot of jobs being created means you need a lot of people to fill them and that leads to lower unemployment”.
Hopefully Victorian job postings will surge once it finally exits lockdown.
