Productivity Commission backs ‘work from home’

The Productivity Commission (PC) has released research studying the impacts of ‘work from home’ (WFH), which has accelerated courtesy of the coronavirus pandemic.

The PC estimates that about 40% of Australians are now working from home, compared with just 8% prior to the pandemic, and describes it as “one of the biggest changes to the way we work in the last fifty years”.

On balance, the PC believes WFH “can unlock significant gains in terms of flexibility and time for employees” and it believes that WFH “could even increase the nation’s productivity”.
