NSW Health has recorded another 478 local COVID cases over the past 24 hours – a new record high:

Of these locally acquired cases, 141 are linked to a known case or cluster – 120 are household contacts and 21 are close contacts – and the source of infection for 337 cases is under investigation.
97 cases were in isolation throughout their infectious period and 30 were in isolation for part of their infectious period. 61 cases were infectious in the community, and the isolation status of 290 remains under investigation.
NSW Health has been notified of another 8 deaths ranging from young (a 15 year-old with a preexisting condition) to old. This brings the number of COVID-related deaths to 56 since 16 June.
391 people are being treated in hospital for COVID with 66 in ICU.
The next chart plots NSW’s daily cases against Victoria’s Winter-Spring outbreak last year, which saw Melbourne locked-down for 14 weeks:

NSW cases still growing, whereas VIC’s were in decline.
At the same point in their outbreak, Victoria’s daily cases were falling.
