NSW records another 199 COVID infections

NSW Health has recorded another 199 new COVID cases over the past 24 hours:

Of these locally acquired cases, 88 are linked to a known case or cluster, 67 are household contacts and 21 are close contacts. Source of infection for 111 cases is under investigation.

70 cases were in isolation throughout their infectious period and 32 cases were in isolation for part of their infectious period. 50 cases were infectious in the community, and the isolation status of 47 cases remains under investigation.

There are currently 250 COVID-19 cases admitted to hospital, with 53 people in intensive care, 20 of whom require ventilation.

The next chart plots NSW’s current outbreak against Victoria’s Winter-Spring outbreak last year whereby Melbourne was shut down for 14 consecutive weeks:

Hopefully NSW’s daily cases have peaked.

NSW now has more than 2300 active local infections with the peak yet to arrive:

My guess is that NSW will peak around 5000 active cases.
