NSW COVID cases surge by 644
NSW Health has recorded another 644 new locally acquired COVID cases over the past 24 hours:

Of these locally acquired cases, 134 are linked to a known case or cluster – 107 are household contacts and 27 are close contacts – and the source of infection for 508 cases is under investigation.
65 cases were in isolation throughout their infectious period and 30 were in isolation for part of their infectious period. 41 cases were infectious in the community, and the isolation status of 506 cases remains under investigation.
Four more people died – all elderly – taking the total death toll this outbreak to 65 since 16 June.
470 people are in hospital being treated for COVID with 80 in ICU.
