Aussies lose faith in nation’s COVID management

Public approval for the Morrison Government’s handling of the pandemic has plunged from 56% in February to 38%, according to a new JWS Research poll. Faith in the NSW Government has also slumped from 65% to 49%, whereas the proportion that still believe that Australia has handled the pandemic well has also dived from 79% in February to 57% in July:

The rating of 57% for Australia’s response in comparison to the rest of the world represents a sharp 22-point drop in ratings since February (79%).

Similarly, amid public debate around issues such as non-compliance with restrictions, slow vaccine take-up and fringe views that deny the pandemic or are anti-vaccination, fewer adults now feel positive about the response of Australians generally (42% very good or good, down from 59%).
