Victoria rumoured to enter 5th lockdown tonight

That’s according to the Herald-Sun:

Victoria is headed for a snap lockdown, with details of the potential move still being decided.

The Herald Sun has been told the move is now unavoidable, with a decision to be announced later today.

It will begin at midnight on Thursday and health department sources said it would be similar to the previous lockdown.

While exact restrictions are still being worked out it is understood schools will likely close.

There will be only five reasons to leave home.

It is likely to last between three and five days.

More to come…

Haha there’s should be called House Arrest! Only NSW has an appropriate Lock. Us. Down! regime.

    • Its not the lockdown pre vaccination, it’s the restrictions afterward, where (well meaning?) people think we can beat this… not we can’t, we have to learn to live with it!

Lol cos Gladys has led the way with the gold standard in guaranteeing extended lockdown through inaction plus seeding the virus across the land!

      Dan Andrews has nfi

The ONLY reason Victoria is in this position is because Gladys has NFI, not Dan!

      • If the cases came from Sydney’s outbreak, Andrews is the one who let the genie out of the bottle. It’s amazing that people will still support him. How many more lockdowns due to his incompetence?

        • Arthur Schopenhauer

The delta variant came from an overseas flight crew arriving in Sydney, who passed it to the Limo driver, who passed it to others, in Sydney, and here we are.

The LNP spambots are out in force today.

          • reusachtigeMEMBER

Hey Gladys doesn’t decide who can get into Victoria! Blame your own poor leadership.

And LOLOLOL, random account calls a member a spambot… 😅

I agree with Kodiak when he says that vicco should have slammed the border shut completely when Sydney had its first cases. And then nuked it from orbit. Dictator Dan has gone soft.

          • The Traveling Wilbur

↑ This. Should have had the Stasi on border patrol.

            Plus it’s always Labor’s fault.

          • No [email protected] It’s not always Labor’s fault. But brutal lockdown after brutal lockdown and it’s due to the failure of the Victorian Government to stop it. How many more times?

Morrison is incompetent excrement, but he’s not responsible for who gets into Victoria.

          • I don’t give a rat’s about the LNP. Both parties look the same to me, with the exception of woke BS and support for China on the left while the right supports the opposite affliction.

What? How? Dan had shut the borders and people from Sydney broke rules specifically put in place by Dan to stop the spread into Victoria.

i find myself wondering what the people that cause these lockdowns feel, in terms of guilt / regret / civic responsibility etc, if any.

The limo driver; these two removalists, other individuals that have demonstrated a profound lack of responsibility or intelligence… do you think they lay awake at night ?

    • The Penske FileMEMBER

No. You’re most likely talking about people with mortgages and they have to keep working.

The work bit is fine. The breaking of the protocols you agreed on your border permit not so much.

    • Arthur Schopenhauer

They would if they were sitting in a cell waiting for a public flogging.

But that would be counter productive to contact tracing. Between a rock and a hard place.

Had Gladys and her cronies gone early on a hard lockdown, Victoria wouldn’t be in this position.

    • The Aspen crew into Mel when it all started
      The movie stars
The people still going in/out of the country whilst expats can’t get home

And yep those who break the rules

It’s the airports that need a lockdown otherwise we’ll end up like every other country that were powerless to stop the new variants.
Repat flights: ( Hope they’re worth it!)
        Flights from India to Australia
We’ll be operating the following flight:

QF112, departing Delhi at 8.05pm on 15 July, arriving Darwin at 9.20am on 16 July 2021.
QF112, departing Delhi at 8.05pm on 17 July, arriving Darwin at 9.20am on 18 July 2021.
QF112, departing Delhi at 8.05pm on 20 July, arriving Darwin at 9.20am on 21 July 2021.
QF112, departing Delhi at 8.05pm on 25 July, arriving Darwin at 9.20am on 26 July 2021.

    • How far we going to go back in the chain tho? Blame the first bacteria that got a little too close to a bacteriaphage?

The fascinating element to this is watching our pollies flail around in response to a virus we are selecting for no matter what we do.
i.e. if you socially distance, only those virus that are long-lived or can be asymptomatic for a longer period of time remain.
You can see how crazy this becomes with passage of time.

    • Well the limo driver was a boomer from the eastern suburbs so I’d say the guilt factor is zero.

Jiminy Cricket and boomers have been strangers for a long time now.

    • Rorke's DriftMEMBER

What is this thing about finding a scapegoat, often for just ridiculous reasons like not wearing a mask, regardless that they have zero effect. It’s just such bushlit that one person is responsible and everyone else is innocent. It’s a virus it’s going to spread. The sooner the better.

  3. I Demand a Lockdown

It’s a sick country we live in to put people through this for a seasonal virus.

Are you saying it’s not a seasonal virus or are you saying all the world’s countries are sick for responding with restrictions and curfews?

  4. TockersMEMBER

The best way we can lean to live with it is to get real about the statistical facts around covid complications and obesity.

    • TheLambKingMEMBER

The Anti-Vaxxer are getting loud. Because their whole world view will crumble when vaccination is proven (again) to be effective in controlling an infectious, deadly, world crippling virus?

      Science. It work. B!tches.

get real about the statistical facts around covid complications and obesity

…..and smokers, and age, and other health risks, and a bunch of others. And those complications are the same for almost every other disease! But you anti-vaxxer think we shouldn’t prevent them dying or having long term complications? Or do you just leave everything to healthy living, fresh air and God?

      • TockersMEMBER

Exactly, if overweight people are three times more likely to be hospitalised than even a marginal cultural shift in obesity will have a material affect moron

        • Lord DudleyMEMBER

So what? Say you reduce obesity by 20%. Then almost half of your population are STILL obese. So you won’t be able to change your virus response one whit.

You’re just greedy and lazy and want others to die so you don’t have to make any accommodations. Just admit what you are and we can move on.

          • TockersMEMBER

Lazy and don’t want to make any accommodations. Sounds like you are talking about the obese. Fact remains that for people under 60 obesity represents nearly all risk associated with intensive care or death.

I can’t believe that this Andrews government has let it’s people down yet again. That’s what you get with Labor. Viruses will always be better managed under a Liberal Nationalist government!

    • Goldstandard1MEMBER

House prices, arrogance, corruption and virus numbers will always be higher under a Lib gov. Labor not far behind.

      • The Traveling Wilbur

“Covid vaccination rates will always be lower under a Scumo LNP government.”

    • I can believe it. Andrews is incompetent, but Victorians are a servile people. They enjoy being under control.

  6. Goldstandard1MEMBER

We beat NSW to a hard lockdown! Woop Woop. Thankfully we’ll be out of it before NSW too.

Gladys is a nightmare of procrastination-a puppet of retail and construction.

    2 Strategies at odds:

NSW (no lockdowns and try and control even when impossible) and

Vic (no appetite for community spread)

The fundamental problem with these differing views is NSW will always spread it to Vic. They need alignment or shut the border until there is alignment. Simple.

    • Please shut the border and keep it closed. Provided it makes the cross-border policing of “lockdown hardness” stop. It’s just so tedious.

    • Charles MartinMEMBER

Scummo said it’s not a race, I now beg to differ.
I think Vic will be out of the woods before we in NSW are.

  7. Ronin8317MEMBER

They have confirmed that the virus had spread inside the MCG. Forget about contact tracing, nothing but a HARD lockdown will stop it now.

  10. Never mind the delta variant when will we have a world beating gold standard variant & what should we call it? (none of these Greek letter names thanks, Aussies are confidant enough to own sh# unlike dem pu##y foreigners 😉)

    • Ronin8317MEMBER

The Omega variant, which I believe will be reserved for when it evolved to 100% fatality, and vaccination is ineffective..

  11. Alex Rondelson

What is the point of this vaccination campaign if the state still flips into Lockdown with a handful of cases…. madness.

Look at the other 60s, the only group at risk (93% of deaths), they are 50-70% vaccinated with first dose which is sufficient to prevent serious illness.

  12. Lord DudleyMEMBER

All the anti vaxxer fruitcakes, and the scared-of-vaccine-wimps, and the let-the-fatties-die crowd here have convinced me that Dutton should be appointed vaccine czar and given emergency powers.

Time to squash the bioterrorists once and for all.
