According to Robert Gottliebsen, National Party leader Barnaby Joyce should take control of the partially completed Melbourne to Brisbane inland rail project and make it a national priority.
This project, says Gotti, will enable freight from Melbourne and Brisbane to arrive in Sydney via Parkes, and will get heavy trucks off the Hume Freeway so that more tourists can use it:
- “Barnaby Joyce and his National ministerial colleagues have the unique opportunity to totally transform Australian domestic supply chains”.
- “We have let the Melbourne to Brisbane coastal rail line fall into disrepair; we are forcing trucks onto the Hume and other highways”.
- “How do you fix the supply chain mess? Step one is to make the partly-completed Melbourne to Brisbane inland rail a national priority”.
