Eight COVID deaths have been recorded this outbreak, which includes the women in her 30s who died over the weekend.

There are currently 156 COVID-19 cases admitted to hospital, with 44 people in intensive care, 18 of whom require ventilation.

The next chart compares NSW’s latest outbreak to Victoria’s Winter-Spring outbreak last year:

Locally acquired COVID cases

Australia’s two biggest COVID outbreaks compared.

If NSW follows Victoria’s trajectory, it could take another two weeks for daily COVID cases to peak.

NSW’s total active COVID cases are approaching 2,000 with the peak also nowhere in sight:

Nowhere near peak.

Hopefully the weekend’s wild protests in Sydney don’t cause an explosion in cases.
