72 more hours in the life of The Idiot

72 more hours in the life of a disordered idiot and it does not get better. After flip-flopping over everything and blaming everybody else for it yesterday, today we go all-in on back-flips, reversals, obfuscation and distractions. Late last week we got this from The Idiot:

The federal government is projecting there will be little need for the AstraZeneca COVID-19 shot after October, with Pfizer and Moderna to become the key vaccines.

For the first time, the Health Department has released long-awaited projections detailing the vaccine doses each state and territory will be allocated each week for the rest of the year.

The modelling forecasts that the AstraZeneca vaccine will be phased out, with demand falling after the over-60s have been vaccinated.

The AstraZeneca vaccine is currently only recommended for people aged 60 years and older, while Pfizer is the preferred vaccine for the under-60s.

Today we get this from The Idiot:

Prime Minister Scott Morrison has revealed a massive change to Australia’s coronavirus vaccination program, announcing anyone under the age of 40 can now approach their GP and request the AstraZeneca vaccine.

Pfizer is the recommended vaccine for Australians under the age of 60, with states and territories now allowing people aged between 40 and 59 to book appointments to get the shot.

Except that there isn’t any Pfizer vaccine!

So, a few days after declaring the AZ vaccine too dangerous to continue with, Morrison is now encouraging everybody to rush out and get it.

Don’t get me wrong. Risks associated with AZ are low. But isn’t The Idiot supposed to be a marketing man? How does darkly condemning a vaccine one day then encouraging you to get it the next add up in those terms?

As we know, the AZ vaccine has been a spectacular debacle from beginning to end:

  • AZ had never produced a vaccine before yet it was chosen as the central pillar of the Australian rollout.
  • Because The Idiot had mates working there and it was the cheapest.
  • Meanwhile, The Idiot sent Pfizer packing when it asked how many doses we wanted, except to the extent that he got few doses for himself and his friends.
  • When AZ problems emerged, The Idiot dismissed them.
  • When AZ problems grew, The Idiot embraced them and declared it off-limits to most of the population.
  • Then The Idiot phased it out owing to health risks.
  • Then The Idiot demanded we all get it and damn the health risks.

Now The Idiot is adding the following:

  • Aged care workers will be compulsorily vaccinated. But with what? There is only AZ.
  • Quarantine workers must be compulsorily vaccinated. But with what? There is only AZ.

Why were these not mandatory before? These functions have been at the core of every outbreak and death. Now we have no Pfizer vaccine to administer to them, either, even though it has much better efficacy against variants like Delta. None until October and only probably then.

Honestly, a dead mullet would do a better job than The Idiot.

Then again, who is the idiot here?
