The Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) has released provisional travel data, which confirms that international arrivals remains near record lows with only 32,900 people arriving into Australia in March 2021, split-out as follows:
- 14,300 Australian citizens arrivals (43% of total);
- 6,700 permanent residents (20% of total);
- 5,100 New Zealand citizens (15% of total); and
- 6,900 temporary visa holders (21% of total).
In March 2020, 476,430 Australian citizens arrived in Australia. However, this collapsed to only 14,300 in March 2021:
