COVID-19 has had a major negative impact on net internal migration into the capital cities, especially Sydney and Melbourne.

According to data released yesterday by the ABS, “the net loss of people through internal migration for the capital cities this quarter (-11,200) was the largest quarterly loss since this series commenced in 2001”.
