Data sources

This is a list of some of the main data sources we use:

https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/ Probably the best source of the latest COVID-19 statistics

https://medium.com/@tomaspueyo/coronavirus-the-hammer-and-the-dance-be9337092b56 Tomas Pueyo has written a number of very good summaries of the strategies to overcome coronavirus

https://www.capitaleconomics.com/the-economic-effects-of-the-coronavirus/ Good source of fast-moving China economic stats.

https://bnonews.com/index.php/2020/02/the-latest-coronavirus-cases/ If you want to be bombarded with every breaking news story, this is the place

https://ncov.dxy.cn/ncovh5/view/pneumonia  Faster than worldometers for Chinese data, but slower on rest of the world data. I don’t think China cases matter anymore.

https://www.who.int/emergencies/diseases/novel-coronavirus-2019/situation-reports I’m less enamoured of the WHO data now than I was at the start of the crisis. They are providing less information now than they were at the start of the crisis, and it sometimes contradicts country-level data.

https://gisanddata.maps.arcgis.com/apps/opsdashboard/index.html#/bda7594740fd40299423467b48e9ecf6 The prettiest pictures, but one of the slower sites to update. I don’t find the charts that useful.

    • let’s wait for a month or two until South African and Brazilian variants spread in US and EU.

      • Not sure I believe the California figures at least…….their case numbers have dropped far too quickly

Looks like the rest of the world will be over it soon with the worst still to come for us! Australia is always behind on trends.

Yeah how farkt up is that!? Not even a known local transmission but panic stations to Lock. Us. Down! FFS that is ridiculous. Gives no certainty to business, just farks everyone up. Poor Perth pr1cks.

      • Australia Day 2021

Think of all the small business operators suiciding themselves, people hanging themselves because of a job loss. Far outweighs the number of COVID deaths.

Sure we could drop the speed limit to 2 km/h per hour in school zones and you’d have 0 deaths of school children, but we make it 40 km/h because it’s best for society to accept some collateral damage. The benefits outweigh the costs.

Quarantine contractor works in a hotel with confirmed Covid cases and is free to go out into the community every day after their shift.

Whocouldanode there would be a problem ?!.

    • All that desert a stones throw away but their trougher cronies need to be closest to that fountainhead……

    • And a rideshare driver to boot. We already got a list of places where he visited, embassy of India one of them.

Wow WA really is full of Yella bellies! If NSW did that we’d be in tatters by now but no, we reign supreme. Gladys really is the best premiere by far.
