New research in Sydney has underlined the fact that COVID-19 can continue to have health consequences after a patient is cleared of the respiratory illness. The ongoing study has examined the long-term health impact of COVID-19 on 78 adults who received treatment for the virus at St Vincent’s Hospital in Sydney between April and June. Many of these patients are still reporting medical problems such as fatigue, chest pain and breathlessness, while eight are experiencing abnormally low total lung capacity.
