Only 6 local COVID-19 cases recorded overnight

Australia recorded 12 new COVID-19 infections overnight, below yesterday’s 16:

However, only 6 were locally acquired, whereas 6 were returned travelers in hotel quarantine:

Victoria recorded 5 new infections, the highest in a week:

However, Melbourne’s 14-day average infection rate has fallen to just 6.1:

Both jurisdictions’ infection rates are bouncing around low levels:

Active local case numbers have fallen to 221 nationally, equivalent to levels that existed before the second wave:

Victoria has 114 active cases, less than half NSW’s level in August when Sydney remained open (NSW peaked at 298 on 12 August):

NSW has only 54 active local cases:

Time to open up.
