Good news: Australia’s COVID-19 infections dive

Australia recorded only 9 new COVID-19 infections overnight, well below 23 the previous day:

However, only 3 were locally acquired versus 6 in hotel quarantine:

Victoria’s 3 infections were the lowest in months:

And Melbourne’s 14-day average has fallen to 8.7, creeping closer towards the 5 average target required to ease draconian stage 4 restrictions on Sunday:

Only 1 of NSW’s 5 COVID-19 infections were locally acquired with the rest returned travelers in hotel quarantine:

Local transmission between the two jurisdictions has converged at a low level:

Finally, there are only 259 COVID-19 infections nationally, with 177 in VIC and 50 in NSW:

However, most infections outside Victoria are returned travelers in hotel quarantine. They, therefore, pose minimal community risk.

It’s time to open the economy up.
