Inquiry uncovers more Melbourne hotel quarantine bungles

The inquiry into Victoria’s bungled hotel quarantine program has been told that the state government had informed security firms in April that they were to allow returned travellers to go outside for fresh air. This had not initially been part of the arrangement. The inquiry was also told that a security guard who raised concerns about this practice had been threatened with a $20,000 fine.

Meanwhile, Greg Watson from Wilson Security has revealed that security guards had been told not to pursue people in quarantine if they tried to abscond while on a fresh air walk; instead, they were to notify the police and let them deal with absconders.
