Victoria finally flattens COVID-19 curve

Victoria has recorded another 322 new COVID-19 infections overnight alongside a record 19 deaths (all aged over 50):

Other key data includes:

  • 640 people in hospital with COVID-19
  • 47 in ICU, including 31 on ventilators
  • 1,065 healthcare workers currently infected
  • 1,756 currently infected in aged care

Infection rates have now clearly passed their peak:

Importantly, the infection rate has fallen below one (0.97):

NSW recorded 14 new COVID-19 infections and continues to do a far better job controlling the virus:

Victoria has now recorded 14,957 COVID-19 infections since the pandemic began, nearly quadruple NSW’s 3875:

Victoria has also recorded 226 COVID-19 infections per 100,000 residents, nearly five times more than NSW’s 48 per 100,000:
