VIC records another 471 COVID-19 infections vs NSW’s 12

Victoria has recorded another 471 COVID-19 infections, down from yesterday’s record 725:

There was another 8 deaths overnight in Victoria.

NSW recorded only 12 new cases, the same as yesterday. It is also doing a far better job containing outbreaks and preventing community transmission:

Victoria now has 7,449 active COVID-19 cases, 96% of the nation’s total. NSW has 274 active COVID-19 cases, 3.5% of the nation’s total:

Victoria has now recorded 13,469 COVID-19 cases since the pandemic began, more than triple NSW’s 3,832:

The total infection rate in Victoria has rocketed to 203 per 100,000 residents, more than quadruple NSW’s 47 per 100,000:

During question time in today’s briefing, Premier Daniel Andrews feigned ignorance and furiously ducked and weaved questions demanding answers on Melbourne’s failed quarantine. He also ducked requests to release genomic sequencing from the Doherty Institute identifying the source of Victoria’s second wave.
