Melbourne lockdown stalls jobs rebound

Callam Pickering, economist at global jobs site Indeed, has updated his weekly jobs ad series, which shows that Melbourne’s lockdown has clearly stalled new job ads.

As shown below, new job ads – i.e. those on Indeed AU for seven days or less – have plummeted in Victoria since the beginning of Melbourne’s lockdown, but are rebounding elsewhere:

In a similar vein, total job postings in Victoria are tracking 46% below last year’s trend, whereas they are down 31% across the rest of Australia:
