ABS: Record low levels of travel continued in May

The ABS has released its preliminary travel data for May, which shows the devastating impact of border closures:

Record lows in overseas travel continued in May 2020 with the total of 19,400 arrivals into Australia (99 per cent less than in May 2019), according to provisional data released today by the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS).

ABS Director of Migration Statistics, Jenny Dobak said: “Nearly seven out of ten (69%) of all arrivals in May were from Australian or New Zealand citizens.”
