SloMo takes Labor’s immigration bait
SloMo is a poor pollie with a tin ear. Via Domain:
“If you’re wanting to hack into the temporary skilled migration program, you’re basically saying you want to hack into the skilled permanent migration program and those communities all around the country,” he said.
“I think that’s an insensitive way of dealing with that and an unbalanced way that’s not only not good for the economy, but equally, I think it puts unnecessary pressures on particular communities around Australia.”
Mr Morrison said last Friday the government expected net overseas migration to fall by 30 per cent this financial year and again by 85 per cent next financial year – an extraordinary decline from assumptions of about 270,000 annual arrivals.
Asked if he wanted net overseas migration to stay down after the crisis had passed, the Prime Minister cited work by demographer Peter McDonald several years ago on keeping the intake within the range of 160,000 to 210,000 a year.
We don’t have a skilled migration program. We have a coolie flood from the Third World paid well below median earnings. The number of temporary visas outstanding reached absurd levels at the end of 2019, at nearly 2.5 million people:

The Temporary Skilled Migration Income Threshold (TSMIT) is $53,900, which is well below the median Australian wage of $1,100 per week ($57,200 p.a.), according to the ABS:

What are these skills for? Cleaning the dunny.
SloMo just wants the warm bodies for higher house prices. The end.
Labor should pound the Government on this. It’s a massive winner with voters and SloMo is utterly exposed. If Labor keeps up the pressure, SloMo will turn to the racist label and alienate everybody but the woke left, especially his QLD base.
He has taken the bait now reel him in.
