Delusional ACTU pushes 4% minimum wage hike

Australian Chamber of Commerce & Industry (ACCI) CEO, James Pearson, says the latest jobs data underlines the need for the minimum wage to remain unchanged in 2020. He warns that an increase in the minimum wage would jeopardise more jobs.

Fair Work Commission president Ian Ross has also flagged the possibility that a minimum wage rise could be delayed for companies that are receiving the JobKeeper wage subsidy.

However, the Australian Council of Trade Unions (ACTU) opposes any delay, instead pushing for a minimum wage rise of 4%, or $30 a week.
