Canada’s ominus warning for Australia’s jobs market

Over the weekend, Canada released labour market data for March, which showed sharp deterioration amid the coronavirus lockdown.

Most notably, Canada shed the most number of jobs on record, with the economy losing 1010.7 thousand jobs in March, easily surpassing market expectations of a 350 thousand cut:

The loses were broad-based, with part-time work diving by 536,700 and full-time went down by 474,000.
