So says Nine:

The future of this weekend’s Australian Grand Prix is in limbo, with conflicting reports over the status of this weekend’s race.

McLaren has already pulled out after a team member tested positive for coronavirus.

A two-hour summit was held last night involving F1’s hierarchy, the FIA, and a number of the sport’s team principals in Melbourne.

Nine News Melbourne reporter Christine Ahern told Today that she had spoken with the Chairman of the Australian Grand Prix corporation, Paul Little, and he had confirmed the race would proceed as planned.

“Officially from workers at the Albert Park circuit, they tell me it’s business as usual and we’ve seen a steady stream of supply trucks enter through the gate,” she said.

It was also reported that track marshalls are being told the event will go ahead as planned.

“We got a text saying it is going ahead,” a track marshall told Today.

There has yet been no official confirmation from F1 or the sport’s governing body the FIA.

Given it is from Paul Little, this looks like the Essendon Football Club scandal all over again.

It appears it will go ahead but without spectators.

Of course the fast and loose European crews will no doubt still be fraternising all over Melbourne.

P.S. Crowds have also been banned from tonight’s cricket ODI in Sydney.

Good luck with that stimulus package, Mr Recessionberg.
