A record 6% of Aussies hold multiple jobs

The Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) yesterday released its Labour Account Australia, Quarterly Experimental Estimates for the September quarter, which revealed that the number of Australians holding multiple jobs hit a record high 6%:

The number of multiple job holders in Australia (people who work secondary jobs) increased by 2.8 per cent in the quarter, with the multiple job holding rate increasing slightly, up to 6.0 per cent…

Secondary jobs are where a person is working more than one job at the same time, and may consist of one or more additional jobs. These jobs can be held by persons who have their main job in the same or a different industry. The proportion of secondary jobs to filled jobs was 6.5% in the September quarter 2019 and 6.4% in the previous quarter.
