Skilled vacancies add to jobs gloom

DEEWR skilled vacancies down again:

⦁ In trend terms, the IVI decreased by 6.7% over the year to June 2019.
⦁ Job advertisements fell in six of the eight occupational groups, with the strongest falls recorded for Machinery Operators and Drivers (down by 17.3%), Labourers (14.9%) and Sales Workers (12.2%). Increases were recorded for Community and Personal Service Workers (up by 3.9%) and Professionals (0.4%).
⦁ Job advertisements decreased in five states and the Northern Territory. New South Wales recorded the strongest fall (down by 10.8%), followed by the Northern Territory (10.6%) and Victoria (6.6%). By contrast, job advertisements increased in Tasmania (up by 10.5%) and the ACT (7.1%). Monthly Change

⦁ Job advertisements decreased in four states and the Northern Territory and remained steady in South Australia. The ACT (up by 0.3%) and Tasmania (0.2%) recorded the only increases in job advertisements over the month.
