Victoria to exchange rail pork for road pork?

The election campaign saw both sides of politics shower Victoria with infrastructure promises in a bid to sway votes. But with Labor losing the unlosable election, it’s pledge to contribute $10 billion towards Dan Andrew’s $50 billion suburban rail loop has also gone the way of the dodo, meaning that if the State Government still wants to build the project it must sail solo.

Seeing the suburban rail loop cancelled would be a good outcome. Various experts have already slammed the project as a “thought bubble” devised during the heat of Victoria’s election campaign.
