The rise of electric cars needs direct road pricing

Nine months ago, the outgoing chief executive of Infrastructure Australia (IA), Philip Davies, urged the federal government to proceed with a road pricing inquiry or risk facing a revenue crisis:

[Davies] said road pricing models will cause “a crisis down the track” because petrol and diesel energies are becoming more efficient and more users are taking up electric vehicles.
