Actual capex lifts, making Q4 GDP outlook less “disastrous”

The Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) today released data on capital expenditures (capex) for the December quarter, which registered a 2.0% seasonally adjusted rise in capex volumes over the quarter and a 1.9% increase over the year (see below table).

The 2.0% quarterly rise beat market expectations of a 1% lift.
