Crush-loaded Sydney schools mull double shifts

The immigration-driven population boom in Sydney – which has added nearly one million people to Sydney’s population over the past 13 years and is projected to increase Sydney’s population by 94,000 people a year over the next 48 years – is the gift that keeps on giving.

Over recent years, we have received a consistent flow of reports claiming that public education was at “breaking point” from chronic overcrowding in Sydney’s schools. This crush-loading follows a report in February claiming that NSW has actually lost 18 public schools over the past five years at the same time as school enrolments surged by 70,000!
