Australia hits peak stupid with land titles privatisation

In 2017 I described the privatisation of NSW’s land titles registry as “brain dead”, “utterly defies both economics and common sense”, and represents “everything that’s wrong with privatisation”.

Over the weekend, the fruits of this idiocy were revealed with the new private owner of the land titles registry flexing its monopoly muscle and attempting to hike fees 1900%. From The SMH:
