Vic Government imposes “weakest” Airbnb regulations

The backlash against short-stay apartment rentals through portals like Airbnb hitting a crescendo after the violent death of teenager Laa Chol during a wild party in a Melbourne CBD high-rise, the Victorian Government has passed new laws to curb unruly behaviour. From The Guardian:

Short-stay accommodation hosts in Victoria can now be banned from renting out their apartments, unruly guests can face fines and owners can be forced to pay their neighbours compensation after new laws passed the state parliament.
