Backlash swells against Gladys’ “about right” immigration numbers

Back in May, NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian claimed the immigration and population “numbers now are about right” and that immigration and infrastructure “are not linked… to the extent people perceive them to be”.

This statement came after it was revealed that Sydney’s population ballooned by 101,600 people in 2016-17, driven by 84,700 net overseas migrants:
