Government commits to dud Melbourne airport rail project

The prospect of Melbourne getting a rail link connecting the airport to the CBD just moved closer to reality, with the Victorian government and opposition matching the federal government’s $5 billion commitment to the project:

Premier Daniel Andrews said on Sunday that his government’s plan for a new airport rail link, which could cost up to $13 billion, will rely on existing rail corridors and tunnels to get to Tullamarine via Sunshine.
