‘Sea change/tree change’ locations dominate internal migration

CoreLogic’s Cameron Kusher has produced an interesting report examining internal migration, which is based on recent annual population data released by the ABS. Interestingly, this data shows that the majority of migration out of the major cities is to adjacent ‘sea change/tree change’ locations:

Regional population and migration data for 2016-17 recently released by the Australian Bureau of Statistics tracks Australia’s internal migration trends. Today for the CoreLogic Property Pulse, research analyst Cameron Kusher today takes a deeper dive into the latest results.

Note: For this analysis Mr Kusher has focused his analysis at internal movements from the Greater Capital City Statistical Areas (GCCSA) to other SA4 regions across the country.
