Planning chaos engulfs Queen Lucy’s dystopian Sydney

Over the past year or so, we have witnessed a growing backlash against Sydney’s break-neck population growth and the deleterious impact it is having on infrastructure, housing and liveability.

To date, this backlash has encompassed the Labor Opposition, Government backbench MPs, former senior public servants, local councils, and residents. Now it appears to have spread to the broader NSW Government, which has reportedly slammed the brakes on new housing proposals in one fast-growing Sydney area, conceding the rapid growth in apartments is outpacing infrastructure, as well as delaying new planning rules making it easier for homeowners to build terraces on their properties in the City of Ryde and the City of Canterbury Bankstown.
