A long weekend for US and UK stocks has not helped risk markets overnight, with a continued slump in oil prices and new elections called in Italy adding to the uncertainty. The USD gained strength against the majors as futures are pointing to a mixed start to the trading day here in Asia.

Recapping stocks in Asia yesterday where the Shanghai Composite started the week with yet another scratch session to finish only a few points down at 3138, still well below resistance at 3200 points. This is still a fizzer of a market, lurching sideways with no real life in it:
