Foley gets his “white flight” commuppance

Via The Australian comes the idiot:

Mr Foley was forced to apologise over comments he made about “white flight” occurring in Sydney’s western suburbs on Thursday, which prompted widespread condemnation from both sides of politics.

NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian criticised Mr Foley in Thursday’s question time, describing his words as “divisive, offensive, dangerous and nasty”. Within an hour, Mr Foley issued an apology for his comments, citing “feedback”. However, Fairfield Mayor Mark Carbone defended Mr Foley’s comments on Friday, saying he had raised valid issues surrounding the strain immigration was putting on western Sydney, including his council.

It’s been a long and hard battle to break open the immigration debate so that it can transpire in non-ethnic terms. Foley’s comments were stupid and a lurch backwards.

Let’s hope the damage is minor. Deposing Queen Lucy and her court of realty oligarchs is hard enough without shooting yourself in the head.
