Apartments drive fall in dwelling approvals

The Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) has released dwelling approvals data for the month of April. At the national level, the number of dwelling approvals fell by a seasonally adjusted 5.0% to 18,701. The overall fall was driven by the unit & apartment market (-11.5%), whereas house approvals rose by 0.1%.

In the year to April 2018, dwelling approvals rose by a seasonally-adjusted 1.9%, with house approvals up by 11.1% whereas unit approvals fell by 7.5%:
