Housing finance weakening despite first home buyer stimulus

Today’s housing finance data for February released by the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) revealed a weakening trend in overall finance commitments.
According to the ABS, the total number of owner-occupier finance commitments (excluding refinancings) fell by 0.1% in February in seasonally adjusted terms and was down 0.3% over the year:
