Australia’s dwelling construction continues to fall

The ABS has released dwelling construction data for the December quarter of 2017, which recorded falls in both dwelling commencements and completions.

According to the ABS, the number of dwelling commencements fell by a seasonally-adjusted 5.0% over the December quarter and were down by 8.3% over the year. Detached house commencements rose by 0.7% over the quarter and by 0.7% over the year, whereas unit commencements fell by 11.7% over the quarter and by 17.7% over the year:
