The Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) has released dwelling approvals data for the month of February. At the national level, the number of dwelling approvals fell by a seasonally adjusted 6.2% to 18,671. The overall fall was driven by the unit & apartment market (-16.4%), whereas house approvals rose by 1.9%.
In the year to February 2018, dwelling approvals fell by a seasonally-adjusted 3.1%, with unit approvals down by 14.8% whereas detached house approvals rose by 6.1%:
