The Australian’s Adam Creighton has penned a thought provoking article today arguing that Australia’s migrant intake should be targeted towards those with English-speaking skills, since they are far more likely to work, are less reliant on welfare, and are more likely to maintain the public’s support for immigration:

Australia can’t take all the world’s 23 million refugees, so why not prioritise those who are most likely to fit in economically? That saves taxpayers money in welfare, and minimises social discord…
