The Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) has released retail sales figures for the month of January, which registered a 0.1% seasonally-adjusted increase in sales over the month, with annual sales growth retracing to just 2.1%:
In trend terms, annual retail sales growth rebounded to 2.3% – just above October’s and November’s record low of 2.0% (i.e. since April 1983).
