Some Good Results but Still Lagging the Global Earnings Boom

Reporting season is now complete with beats exceeding misses 2 to 1 and FY18 estimates being edged about 1% higher on average (0.2% higher on a weighted basis), which is a bit better than the Australian norm. While marginally better than “normal”, Australian earnings continue to lag the global uptrend, in terms of both the rate of earnings growth and the rate of earnings revisions (both very positive globally).
