New jobs are being advertised at wages 4 per cent higher than a year ago, supporting the Reserve Bank’s belief that labour shortages will eventually result in higher wages and inflation.
The average wage range behind advertisements on the job-search website Seek had been creeping higher at an annual rate of just above 1 per cent until last August, when the pace started to pick up.
