Medicare levy increase is more War on Youth

With One Nation holding the balance of power in the Senate, leader Pauline Hanson has signalled that the party will vote against a proposed 0.5% increase in the Medicare levy to finance the National Disability Insurance Scheme. Ms Hanson says she is still holding talks with the Government, but she says One Nation will not support a tax increase unless measures are in place to prevent a blowout in the cost of the NDIS. She is also concerned about the impact of the levy hike on people on low incomes. From The AFR:

“I’m still in discussions with the government over the NDIS scheme, but I’ve made it very clear that I have concerns with the system”…
