ABS: Real Australian rents have not grown for 6 years!

The December quarter consumer price index (CPI) data, released yesterday by the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS), revealed that annual rental growth at the national capital city level has rebounded from 23-year lows.

According to the ABS, rents nationally grew by just 0.3% over the December quarter and by 0.7% over the year – up from September’s 23-year low annual growth of 0.5%:
